Chicken Francaise

Today we’re making one of my favorite stovetop chicken dinners: Chicken Francaise, AKA Chicken Francese, AKA Chicken French. What is Chicken Francaise? Chicken Francaise is thin chicken cutlets dredged in egg and flour, fried, and served with a simple (and delicious) lemon, butter, and white wine sauce. Typically it’s paired with pasta, but rice lovers, feel free to swap out that pasta for rice. Italian immigrants in the area swapped the veal in the French-inspired Italian dish, Vitello alla Francese for the more economical and readily available chicken, and Chicken Francese was born....

How To Steam Green Beans In The Microwave

Hey, need something green for your plate and don’t feel like getting out a pot or pan? How about making some green beans in the microwave tonight? I’ve shared a couple of these vegetables in the microwave posts on the site over the last year (Broccoli in the Microwave, Cauliflower in the Microwave, and Corn on the Cob in the Microwave), and they’ve been pretty popular. I think a lot of us are looking for the quickest and easiest ways to add more vegetables to our diets, and the best vegetable side is the vegetable side that you will actually make....

Single Serve Rice Krispie Treat In The Microwave

I have a few microwave recipes on the site (Broccoli in the Microwave, Green Beans in the Microwave, and Cauliflower in the Microwave) and judging by their popularity, you guys really seem to like them. So I have another microwave recipe for you today, but this one’s a little more dangerous than broccoli, a Single-serve Rice Krispie Treat in the Microwave. I apologize in advance if you find yourself making this way too often because it’s insanely easy to make and just as good as the ones you remember from childhood....

Small Batch Peanut Butter Cookies

Hey, workweek got you down? You should make yourself a cute little batch of peanut butter cookies. Your day will get 97% better immediately. I promise. I love a good peanut butter cookie and these cookies definitely earn that label. Other words used to describe them by taste testers have been, “amazing,” “really really good,” and “my favorite peanut butter cookies ever.” The Perfect Small-batch Peanut Butter Cookies These cookies are super peanut buttery and the perfect (or at least my perfect) peanut butter cookie texture where they’re a little soft and crumbly, a little chewy, and with a little extra oven time, a little crunchy....

Spectre Apple Pie Cupcakes

Spoilers for Big Fish follow. Today’s (barely) creepy recipe in my month of creepy fictional foods (the first post was Hannibal’s Sanguinaccio Dolce, check it out!) is also a part of #Burtoween. What’s Burtoween? Well, you might remember last month I made Jigglypuff Pink Cream Puffs for #Pokenom, hosted by The Gluttonous Geek, where a bunch of fellow bloggers posted Pokemon-inspired recipes across all of our sites. This month, the same group of bloggers is getting together, celebrating Halloween by creating fictional foods inspired by the films of Tim Burton....

The Easiest Homemade Peanut Butter Cups Small Batch

Hey, you ever have one of those lazy afternoons where you’re CRAVING sugar but there’s nothing sweet in your entire house/apartment/illegally zoned yurt except a half-full bag of chocolate chips, and you’re not quite that desperate—yet? The next time that happens, I have a solution for you. Make a batch of these four-ingredient peanut butter cups. They use ingredients you probably have in your cupboard, don’t require you to turn on the oven or stove, and are way, way more fun/more delicious/less sad to eat than a handful of chocolate chips....

The Perfect Meatball Sandwich Recipe

A while back, I shared these fantastic freezer meatballs. (If you haven’t made a batch yet, please do. They are one of my favorite things on the site, and if you have a batch in your freezer you can make today’s recipe in about half an hour.) Anyway, in that post, I promised meatball sandwiches would be coming soon and we have reached that day. Hooray for Meatball Sandwich day!...

Dulce De Leche Ice Cream

Hey, friends, remember last year when I got a little too obsessed with homemade dulce de leche and started adding it to everything? Well guess who’s back on her dulce de leche beat. Let’s make some Dulce de Leche Ice Cream! After an overnight freeze, you end up with an ice cream that is smooth, super creamy, and so, so good. This post may contain affiliate links, which means I receive a small commission if you make a purchase using them....

Easy Roasted Carrots Recipe

We all know that roasting improves almost any vegetable, and that absolutely holds true for carrots. Give your carrots 30 to 40 minutes in the oven, tossed with a little butter, salt, and pepper, and they will come out tender, buttery, and perfect every time. Ingredient Notes Carrots: Try to chop your carrots into pieces roughly the same size so they cook evenly. For very large carrots, slice the thick upper part in half lengthwise before cutting into chunks....

Easy Salsa Chicken

I’ve shared a lot of low-effort dinners here, like my Quick Beef Teriyaki, BBQ Chicken Thighs, and Parmesan Chicken Soup. Today I’m sharing the recipe I make when I don’t even have the energy to make those. This is the ultimate easy dinner, requiring no measuring, no cutting, you make it in one pan, and you probably always have the ingredients on hand: Salsa Chicken. Looks good, huh? (It tastes even better!...

How To Steam Broccoli In The Microwave

One of the earliest recipes I shared on this blog was my Butter and Garlic Green Beans recipe. At the time, it was my ultimate no-fail lazy-bones vegetable side recipe, and I still love it. It’s also one of the most popular recipes on the site, so clearly you guys love it too. But since then, I’ve found an even EASIER, LAZIER vegetable side, one that requires me to turn on neither oven nor stove: Microwave-Steamed Broccoli....

The Best Baked Potato Soup

Potato soups are one of my go-to comfort foods whenever I want something rich and hearty, and you all seem to really enjoy them too, so I’ve posted a bunch of them to the site. My Ham and Potato Soup, Cheesy Sausage Potato Soup, and Broccoli Potato Soup are all reader favorites. But I’ve had one favorite recipe that I haven’t yet shared, and I’m really excited for you to try it....

Tinto De Verano Red Wine Popsicles

Well, we made it. A whole month of nerdy recipes and Nerd Month is finally coming to a close with a show that is very dear to my black heart, Black Books. Black Books (available on Hulu and Netflix) is an earlier effort from the creator of the IT Crowd (which also got the Nerd Month treatment in the form of Sea Parks Mashed Potatoes). It’s just as funny but with slightly worse people....

Tri Tip In The Oven

Sometimes when I’m developing recipes, I have to do quite a bit of testing so I end up eating A LOT of that recipe (remember all those test batches of Freezer Meatballs? I’m still happily eating my way through them). This was another recipe I tested a bunch before making it for the site, and despite the fact that I’ve eaten more tri-tip in the last two months than I have in the last two years, it’s so good that I’m already thinking about making it again this weekend....

This easy carrot cake is a family favorite. It’s simple to make, pretty much fool proof, and perfect for parties or potlucks. I can’t wait for you to try it! High Value Dog Treats

It’s really important to me that my pets be good citizens. Okay, my cats are both jerks, but my horse and my dog have great manners. One of the ways I manage this is that I’m definitely the strict, uncool pet parent, but the other way is through sheer bribery. All of my pets know that if you do something good, you’re going to get a treat. This is great for them but expensive for me because with the concerns about toxic treats coming from overseas, it’s increasingly important to purchase high-quality treats from companies you trust....

How To Cook Shredded Chicken

This is the quickest, easiest, BEST way to cook shredded chicken. Whether you need a batch for soup, a sandwich, or are filling something delicious like shredded chicken enchiladas, this method works wonderfully and will save you a ton of time and trouble in the process. The Best Way to Cook Shredded Chicken This cooking method is a mix between pan-frying and something similar to poaching. You first sear seasoned chicken breast in a little bit of oil which adds a ton of flavor (as we know, browned foods are delicious)....

Shortcut 5 Minute Caramel Sauce

This is a quick and dirty post for 5-minute caramel sauce. I’ve used this caramel in a ton of recipes across the site, like my Caramel Macchiato, Apple Pie Sundae, and Salted Caramel Snickerdoodle Milkshake, and I will certainly use it in many more, so instead of re-typing the recipe every time, I thought I’d give it it’s own dedicated page. Why is this recipe called shortcut 5-minute caramel? Because it uses brown sugar instead of the traditional white sugar (which technically makes it a butterscotch) so it only takes 5 minutes to make....

Snickerdoodles

Hey, friend. I hope your day is off to an excellent start, and if not, don’t worry. It could be about to get a lot better. Because today you could be making snickerdoodles. And not just any snickerdoodles. The best snickerdoodles. Crispy around the edges, soft and chewy at the centers, spicy-sweet, and totally perfect snickerdoodles. And if you don’t know exactly what a snickerdoodle cookie is or have never tried one before (no shame, I’d never had one till I was in college), I am so excited for you because now you get to try one for the first time....
